1. Acceptance
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the Credostar website, the Credostar platform, and any credentials issued through it. Credostar is operated by Thinqzo Technologies Private Limited (“Credostar”, “we”, “us”).
By accessing or using the service you agree to these Terms. If you are entering into these Terms on behalf of an organization you represent that you have authority to bind that organization, and “you” refers to that organization. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
2. Definitions
For these Terms:
- Service means the Credostar platform, marketing website, and related APIs.
- Customer means the organization that has agreed to these Terms and uses the platform to issue credentials.
- Recipient means an individual or entity to whom a Customer issues a credential through the platform.
- Credential means a digital certificate, badge, or other verifiable credential issued through the platform.
- Customer Data means information a Customer provides, uploads, or generates in connection with the Service, including templates, recipient lists, branding assets, and configuration.
- Credit means the unit of consumption used to issue a Credential. Each Credential tier (Standard, Premium, Blockchain) consumes a different number of Credits.
3. The service
Credostar provides a platform for Customers to design, issue, deliver, manage, and verify digital Credentials at scale. Credostar implements the W3C Verifiable Credentials and OpenBadges 3.0 specifications natively.
We may add, modify, or remove features of the Service from time to time. We will not make changes that materially diminish functionality you have already paid for during your current billing term without offering a comparable replacement.
4. Accounts
You must register an account to use most of the Service. You agree to provide accurate information, keep it current, and maintain the security of your account credentials. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
Credostar uses a tiered organization model: platform administrator, reseller (optional), issuer organization administrator, and issuer organization user. The organization administrator is responsible for managing user access within their workspace.
5. Credits and billing
Credentials issued through Credostar consume Credits. Credit pricing and the Credit cost per Credential tier are published on the pricing section of credostar.com and may be updated from time to time.
Purchased Credits do not expire. The Free plan includes a fixed number of Credits valid for a limited window communicated at sign-up.
Credostar uses third-party payment processors to handle billing. By providing payment information you authorize us and our processors to charge the Credit purchases you make. Invoices and receipts are available in your Credostar workspace.
Refunds are evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Credits that have been consumed to issue Credentials are not refundable.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service to issue Credentials that you do not have the right or authority to issue.
- Issue Credentials that are false, fraudulent, defamatory, harassing, or unlawful.
- Attempt to access accounts, workspaces, or Credentials that do not belong to you.
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the Service except to the extent permitted by law.
- Interfere with the Service’s operation, including by sending excessive requests, attempting to defeat rate limits, or exploiting security vulnerabilities.
- Use the Service to violate any applicable law, regulation, or third-party right.
- Resell access to the Service except under a formally agreed reseller arrangement with us.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate this section. Where possible we will give notice and an opportunity to cure; egregious or repeated violations may result in immediate termination.
7. Customer data and credentials
You retain ownership of Customer Data and of the Credentials you issue through the Service. By using the Service you grant Credostar a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, copy, transmit, display, and process Customer Data and Credentials solely to provide and improve the Service for you, and to verify Credentials when asked by Recipients or third parties.
You are responsible for the accuracy and lawfulness of the information you upload, including Recipient personal information. You confirm you have obtained the consents and authorizations required under applicable law to upload that information and to issue the Credential.
You can export Customer Data and Credentials at any time in standard formats. Credostar will not access or use Customer Data or Credentials for any purpose other than providing the Service to you, except as required by law.
8. Intellectual property
Credostar and Thinqzo own all right, title, and interest in the Service, including the platform software, the marketing website, the Credostar brand and marks, and all related intellectual property. These Terms do not grant you any rights in our intellectual property other than the limited right to use the Service as described.
Open-source components used in the Service are governed by their respective licenses. The W3C Verifiable Credentials and OpenBadges 3.0 specifications referenced in the Service are published by their respective standards bodies.
9. Credential verification
Credentials issued through Credostar are cryptographically signed and structured as W3C Verifiable Credentials. They can be verified by any compliant verifier, including open-source implementations, without contacting Credostar’s infrastructure. We provide a public verifier at credostar.com/verify and offer a self-hosted verifier on Enterprise plans.
Credostar does not warrant the accuracy of the underlying claims in any Credential; we warrant that a Credential issued through our platform was signed by the issuing Customer at the time of issuance and has not been altered since.
10. Service availability
We aim to keep the Service available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, with planned maintenance windows communicated in advance. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability. Enterprise plans may include specific Service Level Agreements.
The cryptographic verifiability of a Credential is a property of the Credential itself. Any compliant verifier produces the same answer; verification of a Credential issued through the Service does not require routing through Credostar’s infrastructure.
11. Suspension and termination
You may terminate your account at any time through the platform. We may suspend or terminate your account if you materially breach these Terms, if continued provision would violate law, or if your account remains inactive and unpaid for an extended period.
On termination you may export Customer Data and Credentials for a reasonable transition period. Previously-issued Credentials remain verifiable as W3C Verifiable Credentials even after termination, by design.
12. Disclaimers
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Credostar disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
Credostar does not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure against every possible attack. Credostar does not warrant any specific outcome from using the Service, including any specific business, educational, or compliance result.
13. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, neither party will be liable to the other for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, loss of revenue, loss of business, or loss of data, arising out of or related to these Terms or the Service, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.
Credostar’s total liability arising out of or related to these Terms or the Service in any twelve-month period will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid to Credostar for the Service in that period, or (b) one hundred United States dollars (USD 100).
14. Indemnification
You will defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Credostar and its affiliates from any third party claim, demand, or proceeding arising from your use of the Service in violation of these Terms, your violation of applicable law, or the content of Credentials you issue through the Service.
Credostar will defend, indemnify, and hold you harmless from any third party claim that the Service as provided by us infringes that third party’s intellectual property rights, subject to standard process and remedies set out in our enterprise agreement.
15. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When changes are material we will notify you by posting a notice on credostar.com and, where you have a paid account, by emailing the account administrator at least 30 days before the effective date. Continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
16. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute arising out of or related to these Terms or the Service that cannot be resolved through good-faith negotiation will be submitted to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts of India.
Enterprise customers may negotiate alternative governing law and forum provisions in a signed enterprise agreement.
